My elementary school memories of John always bring a smile to my face. I think we were boyfriend and girlfriend for a minute in 3rd or 4th Grade. There's something about that core group of friends that I went to school with from the Methodist Church preschool, Pi Beta Phi Elementary School and all the way through Gatlinburg Pittman High School...I will always feel a special connection. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my thoughts.

It has been over 30 years since I had seen John, and as with recalling all my friends from that easier time, I always laugh when thinking of those wonderful mountain days. What a smile that guy had. Our concerns revolved around little league, grasscutters football, comic books, and staying on Mr. Lewelling's ever-present good side. I find solace in knowing that the peace of childhood will find us all together again in a better place, where all the years are the blink of an eye. Rest in Peace old buddy. God bless your family.

With fond memories, Dustin Els & Family - Atlanta, GA
